We hereby certify that The Ministry of Agriculture of Brazil, under the authorization nº. SIF/DIPOA 0001-987, licensed Raw Propolis worked by Conap.
Process for obtaining Propolis in natura:
1- Propolis is a resinous substance with several tones of colors between green and dark. The bees gather it from the leaf buds or the bark of certain trees and bushes, as Rosemary (Alecrim) and eucalypts. Resins, aromatic substances, wax, oils and small grains of pollen are the main components of propolis.
2- Raw Propolis is removed from hives and is commercialized in natura; therefore it isn’t necessary to do a manufacturing process.
3- Propolis is collected from hives, kept in transparent, nontoxic, sterile plastic bags in freezers up to the moment of cleaning. After that it is cleaned grain by grain in manual process in which the following impurities are removed: wax, bee’s wings, dead bees, seeds, nails, stones, wood slices etc.
4-
Ultra Green Characteristics; It is produced exclusively in the central and south
areas of Minas Gerais State. The months to collect this grade is from September
to March, when its vegetal sources “Alecrim”(Baccharis Dracunculifolia) and
“Assa-peixe” (Vermonia polyanthes) are building, which allows harvesting a
high quality, fresh product.
Chemically, it
is the richest kind of propolis produced in Brazil. It has a vibrant green color
with an accentuated and pleasant aroma. It has a very high quantity of
flavonoids (active principle): approximately 3,5% mg per gram of flavonoids,
including phenolics and non-phenolic substances.
5-
Super Green Characteristics; It is produced in Minas Gerais State, Western of São
Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Espirito Santo States. The basic difference between
Super Green and Ultra Green is that Super Green takes more time to be harvested
from hives and has a gray green color. The extract produced by using this grade
of propolis is strong, bitter and when dropped in water, the chlorophyll, which
is the natural chemical responsible for it’s color, leaves a beautiful, clear,
green color.
It has a very
high quantity of flavonoids and other active substances: more than 2,5% mg per
gram of flavonoids, including phenolics and non-phenolic substances.
6-
Standard Blend Characteristics; Is a combination of grades produced by selecting
green propolis from the states of Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro,
Espirito Santo and Paraná. It is composed by 50% of Super Green grade and 50%
of Paraná grade. It tastes not so bitter or so strong. In addition, the
combination of grades in our Standard Blend gives it a mild aroma.
The extract
produced has a beautiful, clear, green color; the minimum flavonoids is about
2,5% mg per gram, including phenolics and non-phenolics substances.
7- Paraná Green Characteristics; It’s especially from the Paraná State, South region of Brazil. It has a green brown color and the smell and taste are less piquant than the others grades, but is a little bit sweetened. It has a minimum of 1,8% mg per gram of flavonoids (active principle) including phenolics and nom-phenolic substances.
8- Especial Conap; It is composed by 50% of Super green propolis; 10% of propolis Brown from Southwest region of Brazil (Minas and São Paulo) and 40% of Brown propolis from Paraná State.
9- Brown Grade characteristics; It comes from Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo and Paraná states. Brown is produced throughout the year and is very appropriated for using in creams, lotions and cosmetics. The color is brownish or blackish and the aroma is not as strong as the green grades. It isn’t as high in flavonoids as the green grades, but it is high enough to keep this product in high demand. Brown has at least 1,5% mg per gram of flavonoids, including phenolics and non-phenolic substances.
10- The final package is made in sterile plastic bags of 5,0 kg each. Conap puts inside the bags 3 (three) packages of silica gel, to protect against humidity. Then the bag is sealed.
11- To be shipped, the bags of 5,0kg each are packed in double cartons of 20kg each. After that the product is ready to be inspectioned by The Ministry Agriculture of Brazil.
12-
Conap supplies this product with the Beneficiary’s Inspection
Certificate, containing the following chemical analyses:
- Origin;
- Organoleptic Analysis: aspect, taste, smell and consistency;
- Physical chemical analysis: flavonoids;
- Presence of Antibiotics: tetracycline, oxitetracycline, clorotetracycline and
sulphas.
An independent
laboratory does these analyses.
