Baccharis dracunculifolia is a dioecious plant, that present sex- related differences with the morphologics aspects. Many species of dioecious plants may present sex-related differences in carbo-based defenses, due to a difference allocation of the available resourches. Females generally have a higher investment in reproduction than males, channelling a greater amount of nutrients to the maturation of reproductive structures. Therefore, females have relatively more carbon- based secondary metabolites, such, flavonoids, tannins and phenolic compounds.
