PLANT THAT ORIGINS GREEN PROPOLIS
Baccharis
dracunculifolia (alecrim do
campo)
Feminine plant
Masculine plant
Baccharis dracunculifolia is a dioecious plant, that present sex- related differences with the
morphologics aspects. Many species of dioecious plants may present sex-related
differences in carbo-based defenses, due to a difference allocation of the
available resourches. Females generally have a higher investment in
reproduction than males, channelling a greater amount of nutrients to the
maturation of reproductive structures. Therefore, females have relatively more
carbon- based secondary metabolites, such, flavonoids, tannins and phenolic
compounds.

The bees gathered the resins substances in the vegetative buds of Baccharis
dracunculifolia.
Baccharis dracunculifolia species has as botanical markers (glandular tricomes, non glandular
tricomes and epidermis fragments) used for the determination of the botanical
origin of the propolis, placed in its vegetative buds.
